Army Intelligence Veteran writes: “Why Every Patriot Must Read The Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates.”

The book has impacted many former and current military personnel. Many have read it. Many more are getting it into their hands and reading it. In this blog post, Captain Seth Keshel, exhorts people “to procure a copy of The Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates, by Matthew Trewhella, to read it, and to spread it to anyone who has eyes and ears.”

He writes further:

“This book spits in the face of the pacifist, gutless church that misinterprets Scripture, and in effect, brainwashes Christians to comply with tyranny and evil.  You will be armed with all answers to every question upon the confluence faith and liberty that you’ve ever been confused over.

Though this book is not even a decade old, the doctrine itself is timeless.  It has been in practice for millennia, as the book outlines with its Biblical examples of lower ranking magistrates (hence lesser magistrates) defying lawless mandates from higher magistrates.  The doctrine was formalized during the Siege of Magdeburg in 1550, and incredible examples of the Godly defiance of tyranny are contained throughout the text.” [read the entire short exhortation here]

The doctrine of the lesser magistrates is demonstrated by the interposition of lesser civil authorities. When the superior authority (like a governor or federal judiciary) acts lawlessly – it is the duty of the lesser magistrates to interpose and not obey their unlawful actions. Their duty is not blithe compliance, rather, their duty is interposition. The lesser magistrate doctrine was first formalized by Christian men in 1550, but has also been seen in non-Christian nations showing it is natural to man.
