Sheriffs in Nine Texas Counties Interpose Against Governor’s Mask Order

A group of Texas sheriffs won’t enforce Governor Abbott’s statewide order to wear masks whenever and wherever in public if more than 20 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in a county.

Fox News reported that the law enforcement officials in Denton, Houston, Montgomery, Gillespie, Upshur, Kerr, Gregg, Nacogdoches and Panola counties  say they will not issue citations to those who do not comply with the order.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Thursday had ordered that face coverings must be worn in public across most of the state.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said it would take “no action” against those not wearing masks.
